SAM Large space 3D printer: Features

SAM Process Safety Printhead

Process safety

Using high-quality extruders from Bondtech The printing process maintains stability and ensures quality printing results for small-batch production. The use of ball screws in conjunction with closed-loop drives allows for high precision with high wear resistance.

SAM Z-axis print speed

Print speed

The high max. printing speed of 500 mm/s sets new standards, and as a result, the SAM is capable of up to 400 g/h to process filament. The drive combination of a self-locking trapezoidal spindle and a ball screw spindle forms the system for secure positioning with precise, efficient movement for large-format printing processes.

SAM Print Head Components

Modularity

All main components can be removed quickly and easily at any time, and new features can be retrofitted in just a few simple steps – this is how Mach-3D ensures short maintenance times.

Frequently asked questions about the SAM Large-Format 3D Printer

What materials can the SAM large-format 3D printer process?
The SAM processes a wide range of technical plastics: PLA, PETG, TPU (85A and 95A), PA, PA-CF, PA-GF, ABS, ABS-GF, ASA, ASA-GF, PP, PP-GF and PPS-CF and PPS-GF. All materials have been tested for printability at Mach-3D.
Which slicers are compatible with the SAM?
The SAM is an open system and compatible with all popular slicers, including Orca Slicer, Bambu Studio, PrusaSlicer, and UltiMaker Cura. It is designed for 1.75 mm filament.
What is the build volume of the SAM?
The usable build volume is 900 × 900 × 1000 mm, enabling the printing of large FDM components without sectioning. The external dimensions are approximately 1300 × 1300 × 1850 mm – compact and transport-friendly, and can be moved via pallet truck.
How fast does the SAM large-format 3D printer print?
The SAM achieves a maximum print speed of 500 mm/s and processes up to 400 g of filament per hour, with an acceleration of 10 to 20 m/s². The positioning accuracy is 0.1 mm.
What temperatures does the SAM reach?
Thanks to the hotends from Luke's Laboratory, the SAM reaches temperatures of up to 500°C. This opens up a wide range of printable materials – from standard plastics to fibre-reinforced high-performance materials.
The SAM is suitable for which applications?
The SAM is suitable for small-batch production of large-format plastic components, cost-effective prototyping, the reproduction of spare parts, and as an alternative to machining processes – for greater independence from external production factors.
Does Mach-3D provide installation, maintenance, and training for the SAM?
Yes. The SAM is a managed system: Mach-3D handles the ready-to-print installation on-site, maintenance is carried out in close collaboration with development, and the Mach-3D Academy offers training for large-format additive manufacturing.
